Happy New Year, all Créatúrs large and small and full of thirst. On Monday, 2nd February, at 19:00 IST/GMT, we’ll be hosting the next instalment in our ongoing series of Online Hedge School events, looking deep into the red-stained staves of Irish whiskey’s love affair with sherry casks. From the history of the love affair to the styles of sherry to the details of sherry cask procurement in the trade today, we’ll be turning the Spanish hogshead upside down.
With your support, Créatúr made a visit to Jerez this year to talk to the folks behind those casks and we’ll be taking the opportunity on the night to keep you all abreast of what found on our flight to Spain. We’ll be blowing open some common misconceptions about sherry casks themselves and opening some eyebrow raising revelations about their history in Ireland.
WhiskyLive Madrid’s own Diego Borras La Duela will be joining as guest MC on the night and if you’ve any questions about what exactly make your PX or your Palo Cortado or your Oloroso tick, now is the time to ask. Salud!
This live online event takes place on Monday, February 2nd at 19:00 IST/GMT (Dublin/London), 14:00 EST (New York), 11:00 PST (LA)
As with all Hedge School events, booking is reserved for Créatúr’s Supporter community. For anyone interested in joining up you can sign-up here – we’ve more coming in the future.
