Exclusive Supporters Live Event March 18th at 19:00 IST/BST, 14:00 EST, 11:00 PST
On Tuesday, March 18th, we’ll be hosting the eighth instalment in our ongoing series of Online Hedge School events exclusive to our kind Supporters, investigating the past, the principles, and the possible of Irish blends and blending. This Online Hedge-School will be the second in a two part series covering the interlocking stories of column stills and blending in Ireland. But there’s far more than that. The role of column-distilled ‘grain whisky’ in the rise of blends is well understood, but there are many other histories subtly blended in.
From the evolution of Ireland’s bonders to the roots of sherry cask maturation to the rise of modern whiskey ‘brands,’ we’ll be covering an awful lot of ground on this one and we can’t wait to share it with you. It’s a story closely interwoven with events in Scotland, and yet the two histories are almost always read in isolation. It’s the story of casks and warehouses and of ‘blending’ as an act behind closed warehouse doors.
Joining us to tell that story will be our friends, John Quinn and Dr. Nick Morgan, veterans of the Irish and Scotch industries, for some perspective on blends, old and modern. Irish Whiskey Magazine’s Serghios Florides will be rejoining us as MC.
This live online event takes place on Tuesday March 18th at
19:00 IST/GMT (Dublin/London), 14:00 EST (New York), 11:00 PST (LA)
