Yes, it’s “Christmas in a Glass!”
Happy Christmas, dear creatures great and small and full of thirst. On Friday December 13th we’d like to invite Créatúr’s wonderful supporters to our next in-person get together— a bungled figgy warehouse raid and red cheeked chat about Ireland’s favourite tasting note: ‘Christmas in a glass.’
We’ve all heard it before—but what does it mean? And what does it mean to all of us? We certainly like to say it and it’s certainly understood. Especially in Ireland. All sherry cask aged whiskey has a hint of Christmas but there’s something specially peculiar about the combination of gingery viscous Irish single pot still oils and the figgy thick linger of a fortified wine cask. It hits a chord in us. And it’s a chord we’d like to sing. So come and sing it with us and a few good friends over Christmas cake and cask pulls at Mitchell & Son’s newly opened premises, ‘The Vaults’, Unit 2, Old Harcourt Street Railway Station, Hatch Street Upper, Dublin 2, D02 K2K2 (just by the Harcourt St Green Line Luas Stop) at 19:00 on Friday, December 13th.
We’ll be pouring some specially selected luscious single pot still cask pulls from Echlinville, Boann, and Killowen, along with a generously donated sample of a special pot still single cask from Mitchell’s own Spot range of Midleton. We’ll have Christmas cake and sherry and hopefully you too. It’s been an astounding first year for Créatúr and we’d never have come this far without your help and generosity. As with all Hedge School events, booking is exclusively reserved for those who have signed up to Créatúr’s Supporter community. For those Supporters that aren’t able to make it, we’ll see ye in the New Year. We’ve a lot more coming in 2025.
